Dr. Duckworth’s dissertation examined the key features of academic development during pre-school and primary years and their implications for later outcomes. Her current work involves cross-cohort comparisons and exploring the mechanisms through which social adversity affects children’s development. Her previous research has investigated the intergenerational transmission of education success, children’s school readiness, progress and attainment during primary school and as well as the role of self-regulation in learning. Dr. Duckworth’s postdoctoral work extends the work of her PhD thesis in exploring the manifestation of educational inequalities during the school years. She is also working with colleagues in the PATHWAYS program examining key transition periods over the life course and at long-run correlates of age achievement, attention, and behavioral skills in middle childhood.
