I am a third year doctoral student in the social psychology program. I am originally from Mobile, AL, and I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in Psychology and African & African American Studies. Broadly, my research interests include racial identity, class identity, motivation, and how these things affect academic achievement. My work with Dr. Crocker has focused on how compassionate goals (goals to support others) and self-image goals (goals to construct desired self-images) impact the experience of African American college students. This line of work examines how African American students' goals impact their well-being, mental health symptoms, and academic and interpersonal experiences
