Amy's current research examines the associations between egosystem
and ecosystem goals and interpersonal relationships. Previous
research indicates that chronic ecosystem goals are associated
with increased well-being and more adaptive friendship-related
outcomes, whereas egosystem goals are associated with lower
well-being and less adaptive friendship-related outcomes. Similarly,
we expect that one's egosystem and ecosystem goals will be
associated with the well-being of close others and close others'
reported relationship satisfaction.
She is also interested in the physiological outcomes associated
with egosystem and ecosystem goals. Preliminary findings provide
some evidence that, for men, an ego-orientation manipulation
results in increased cortisol levels (compared to an eco-orientation
manipulation) after a stress-induction.
