Ivy earned her PhD in Sociology from the University of Maryland. Her broad research interests include the societal incorporation of racial and ethnic immigrant groups, transnational/cross-national family and social relations, and the social determinants of health among immigrant populations within the historical, cultural, and structural contexts of immigrant receiving nations. Ivy’s current research focuses on the association between transnational family and social relations and ethnic-immigrant identities among first and subsequent generations, and how these identities impact economic incorporation, acculturation processes and health outcomes among Afro-Caribbean immigrant groups in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
