Karen joined The Program for Research on Black Americans in 2006 and is the liaison between the department and all of the many funding agencies that keep the program afloat such as The National Institute of Health, The Carnegie Corporation and The National Science Foundation. She is fundamental in both pre- and post-award grant management working directly with Dr. Harold Neighbors, the programs director and all of the program faculty. Some of Karen's hobbies include reading true crime novels, counted cross-stitching, and crossword puzzles. She has an English Springer Spaniel named Katie. And, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 17 years and two daughters at their cabin near Alpena, Michigan.
