Sharon Simonton is a social epidemiologist who received her PhD
in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She received an
MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. Her doctoral
research focused upon the effects of income and wealth on childhood
overweight among black and white children in the US. Her research
interests include: racial and socioeconomic health disparities;
life course, intergenerational, and contextual determinants of health;
structural determinants of population health; and the development
of modeling and simulation approaches to better understand and
address health inequalities.
