    The UMKC has been working with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kalamazoo to develop and administer an Alumni Survey to collect feedback from BGC alumni which we hope to use as a marketing tool to further develop programs and initiatives to aid members of the Kalamazoo Boys and Girls Club.

    Objective: To strengthen internal management of operations and programs that empowers Kalamazoo’s Northside residents to improve their quality of life.  
    Expected Outcomes: A change in mission from delivery of social services to a needs based provider of empowerment programming that would improve the quality of life of local residents.

  • ERACE/CE
    Objective: To strengthen organizing and training capacity to advance racial equality in Southwest Michigan.           
    Expected Outcomes: Strengthening of collaborations in the local and regional anti-oppression movement; Assisting with the planning of the 2010 Race Exhibit scheduled in Kalamazoo; Establishing the ERAC/CE Organizing and Training Team with sufficient support and leadership.

  • Hispanic American Council  
    Objective: To provide staff leadership and improve technology systems to enhance education and human development programs for Hispanics in Southwest Michigan. 
    Expected Outcomes: Increasing the level of professionalism; Improving the technical infrastructure to better serve a growing population of Hispanics in the Greater Kalamazoo area.

    Objective: To strengthen its interfaith organizing in Kalamazoo.
    Expected Outcomes: Positioning the organization; Recruiting new member congregations; Building core teams; Providing training for task forces; Building relationships with public officials and facilitating energies and resources to reduce racial disparities in health as well as organize on issues affecting low-income communities.

  • Michigan Organizing Project (KHAN) 
    Objective: To strengthen leadership skills of the organization’s members and improve its financial and organizational stability.       
    Expected Outcomes: Leadership development and social justice education in local churches as well as an ability to organize around larger social justice issues; Improved access to healthcare and housing; Improved local climate for immigrants.
