An Opportunity to Support Socially Relevant Research
By providing crucial
financial support for young social scientists eager to do research on social behavior,
the Robert B. Zajonc Scholars Fund addresses an important need at the Institute for
Social Research and the University of Michigan.
The Zajonc Scholars Fund will make it possible for University of Michigan Ph.D.
candidates to investigate social problems in innovative ways and facilitate their
development as productive scientists.
Bob Zajonc’s advice for how graduate students could become first-rate researchers,
was to "Just do it." He felt one of the most important parts of graduate activity
should be engagement in independent research.
When asked what advice he gave to students it was, "Ask not what the research problem
can do for you. Ask what you can do for the problem."
The Robert B. Zajonc Scholars Fund will provide assistantship and scholarship support for outstanding first and second year graduate students who are interested in a research career to work with RCGD faculty. Such an arrangement will honor Bob and his commitment to inspiring and launching research careers.
If you would like to contribute, you can do it either by mail or online.
